For pupils: your data in plain words
What we keep
- Your name or the name you choose, your email, and your school year if you tell us.
- Your answers, scores, coins and streaks, so you can carry on where you left off.
- Topics and worksheet photos you add to My learning.
Who can see it
- You.
- A grown-up you invite, such as a parent or carer. They see your progress, your recent answers and a weekly summary of how much you practised. They do not see your Ask Foxy chats or your photos. You can stop sharing with them at any time.
- Teachers of classes you join. They see your work for their class.
- A small FoxySchool team who look after the site.
- Other pupils only see the name you choose and your coins on the leaderboard and in word games.
Ask Foxy and other computer helpers
- Some answers and photos are sent to a computer helper (AI) from a company called OpenAI to give you hints or check your work. We never send your name or email with them.
- Ask Foxy records are deleted after 30 days.
- The helper can make mistakes, so check with a teacher if something looks wrong.
What we never do
- No adverts. We never sell your data.
- No chatting with other pupils.
- You can't buy coins with real money.
If you are worried
Tell a grown-up you trust. They can email us at privacy@foxyschool.com.

We do not ask for a date of birth, home address, phone number or payment details. We do not store IP addresses in our own database. Our sign-in provider and our host may keep technical logs, which can include IP addresses, to run and protect the service.
Some progress is kept only on your device, in your browser's storage, so you can carry on offline. Biology Explorer answers saved for offline use are cleared when you sign out.
Why we use it
- To run your account and let you sign in.
- To show lessons, mark answers and remember your progress.
- To pick what to practise next.
- To let linked teachers and parents see progress.
- To give hints and suggest marks using AI (see below).
- To keep the service safe, fix problems and review reported content.
- For approved research studies, only with recorded consent and assent, using a pseudonym.
Who can see it
- You can see your own work.
- Parents and carers you invite see your name, skill progress, classes, homework, up to 30 recent answers with scores, and a weekly summary of the days you practised, how many questions you answered and about how long you spent. They do not see Ask Foxy records or photos. Answers from a live timed test stay hidden until it ends. You can stop sharing with them from your profile.
- Teachers see the work of learners linked to them or in their classes, including names, emails, answers and school topic photos.
- Other users see your chosen name and coin total on the leaderboard, and your chosen name in word game rooms you join.
- The FoxySchool team (site admins) can see account details to support users and review reports.
There is no messaging between pupils.

We do not use advertising, analytics or error-tracking services. Fonts are served from our own site.
Some past exam papers open directly from the exam-paper site that hosts them, so that site can see your IP address. Word game flags load from cdn.jsdelivr.net.
AI
When you use Ask Foxy, Teach Foxy, school topic recognition or AI marking, we send what you typed, drew or photographed to OpenAI. We never send your name or email. Each request uses OpenAI's setting that asks it not to store the response. Ask Foxy hints come from text our team has checked; the AI only chooses which hint to show. AI marks are labelled as suggestions and can be wrong.
How long we keep it
- Ask Foxy records: deleted after 30 days.
- Word game rooms: deleted after 2 hours (lobbies) or 24 hours (games).
- Research study data: deleted on the study's retention date.
- Invitations expire after 14 days.
- Everything else is kept while your account is open. When an account is closed, we switch it off and keep its learning history unless you ask us to delete it.

Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email privacy@foxyschool.com. We aim to reply within one month. A parent or carer can ask on behalf of their child. We may ask a few questions to check who is asking.
You can ask to close your account from Settings. Our team then switches the account off.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
FoxySchool is made for pupils in Years 6 to 11. There is no minimum age, and we do not ask for a parent's permission to sign up. A child can invite a parent or carer to see their progress.
